May Book Wrap Up 2019

Happy Thursday, y’all! Today I have for y’all my May book Wrap Up – let’s get into these books!

El niño con el pijama de rayas – John Boyne – 4/5 stars

I really enjoyed this book and it also helped me with my Spanish reading skills which is always great. It did make me get teary-eyed and it’s such an interesting read. I also will say that I enjoyed the movie adaptation of it, as well.

The Fault in our Stars – John Green – 4/5 stars

Another read that made me teary-eyed. I really liked this book and everything that Gus did for Hazel, ugh, my heart. These two were just so precious. I annotated this one and there wasa  lot of pink tabs haha. I also really enjoyed the movie adaptation and feel like it was pretty spot on for the most part.

Made You Up – Francesca Zappia – 5/5 stars

So I was recommended this book by someone who I was close with before and I’m so glad she did (even though it took me years to read but.. yeah haha) because I enjoyed this so much more than I expected – I couldn’t put this book down, I literally almost pulled an all-nighter to finish it but #ILoveSleep haha. I will say that it does has some controversy because of the portrayal of schizophrenia so if that’s a touchy area for you, maybe this may not be the book for you, and it also has some trigger warnings for abuse. Overall, really good read and can’t wait to get Zappia’s book Eliza and Her Monsters and her most recent on Now Entering Addamsville! 😊

Lilac Girls – Martha Hall Kelly – 5/5 stars

So I buddy read this with my bookinsta friend Bri  and we enjoyed it and are really need a sequel to this! There’s a prequel out now, but I really need to know what happens to the girls and how it left off … total cliffhanger!! I really loved this and makes me happy that Bri enjoyed it as well because this was her first historical fiction read so it makes me happy it wasn’t a flop for her, haha. Such a powerful and interesting read!

The Wrath & The Dawn – Renée Ahdieh – 5/5 stars

I. Loved. This. Book. (!!!!) I loved this and definitely couldn’t put it down and the ending was just wow! So glad I now have the second book of this duology so I can see how this ends and I really hope I enjoy it as much as the first one because it does have mixed reviews, but someone mentioned to me that it has more Aladdin and more magic so I’m looking forward to that! Khalid & Shazi, ugh, these twooo. 💕

We Set the Dark on Fire – Tehlor Kay Mejia – 5/5 stars (but really it’s 1000/5 stars!)

I NEED TO GET THE SECOND BOOK BUT I AM ON A BOOK BAN RIGHT NOW UGHHH! okay, had to get that out of my system because the second book of this wonderful book is on pre-order and I really really want to get it, but I’m currently on a book buying ban!😭  If you love rebellion, LGBTQ+, and hate to love or enemies to lovers trope – this is the book for you!! Highly recommend!! 🙌

So those are all the books I read in May and I loved every single one of them! Let me know what all you read in May and any book recommendations in the comments!💕
