Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all have been well and staying safe out there! I’m back with another blog post and this will honestly just be some thoughts I’ve been having lately. So let’s get right into it. 😊
So what was supposed to be my first day of class turned into a snow day for us and we rarely ever get snow here so everyone was enjoying it while they can and having a blast even my dog had fun in the snow haha.
So as you may (or may not, who knows haha) have noticed I took an unexpected hiatus right after rambling about me being back and all that. Well as I’m sure y’all are aware, things just have been, for lack of a better word, shitty lately.
I didn’t feel motivated at all, I honestly wanted to stay in my room and not leave, but seeing as I’m an “essential worker” I had to go to work.
So with all that being said, I hope y’all had a good end of the year, despite all that’s happened lately. With this new year I do feel some changes happening soon and some good things happening, a light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak. So I wanted to share some thoughts I’ve had and some things I’ve learned these last couple of months.
• Cherish those around you – this may be a given, but it’s something one can forget to do after a while, I know I’ve been guilty of this, sadly, but I’ve learned to cherish those around me. Don’t take them for granted, let them know you’re there for them, be kind. I recently lost a classmate of mine and I was gutted. I felt like I could’ve reached out more, been more present, but I wasn’t and while I know I won’t ever know what battles she was facing, I still feel like maybe I could’ve done more. I know she’s in a better place right now dancing with the moon, sun and stars, but it sucks knowing she isn’t with us anymore. Send that message, be present, it could mean more than you know.
• Enjoy every moment – this kind of piggy backs on what I just said above, but with busy schedules and chaos of the world, it seems hard to enjoy every moment, but even the smallest thing can do wonders. Enjoy that cup of coffee, enjoy that book, enjoy those puppy/kitty cuddles, enjoy the small and big moments that bring you joy or cause joy. Enjoy life as best as you can during these hard times.
• Self care is very important – this is a major one for me. It took me so long to do self care because I honestly didn’t know where to even start. But I realized that self care is really what you make of it or what you enjoy. For me, that’s memory planning or reading a good book with a lit candle. I’ve taken more moments of self care than I’ve ever had in years and I’m so glad I have, it’s been so relaxing and refreshing and eye-opening in most cases. Definitely give yourself some TLC, you may not feel like you need it, but your body and mind will thank you for it.
Commit to your goals – This one is another big one for me. I have always been straightforward about my goals and what I want to accomplish, but I did let it slide for a bit due to personal reasons, but this new year I’m going to be more committed to my goals and not stray from them. I’ve written them down, put it on my nightstand and every morning I wake up, I look at that little reminder and I go about my day with those goals in mind. When I’ll accomplish them, I’m not sure it could be soon, it could be down the road, but I will accomplish those goals and nothing and no one is going to stop me from my end goal.
If you’ve reached this part of the blog post, thank for you reading this, it means a lot. I hope y’all enjoy your day and I hope this week is good for everyone.
Stay safe and warm,
